A permit is necessary for the movement of vehicles exceeding weight and size limits on the Illinois Tollway.
This page details those weight and size limitations, permit fees and restrictions on movements.
All vehicles must have a state Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) permit number prior to obtaining a Tollway permit. Illinois Tollway requirements are consistent with the rules and regulations of IDOT.
Time of day and holiday travel restrictions apply to some vehicles.
This website accepts requests for overweight and overdimension truck permits and submits them to the Illinois Tollway’s Commercial Vehicle Permit System (CVPS) for processing. If the information submitted is within the weight and size limits established by the State of Illinois, a permit will be issued by email.
